Prom coming up

Harlem Wizards basketball player Shawn Garner came to Lincolnview Elementary last week to perform basketball tricks for the students during lunch. Above, he helps Zoe Hilleary spin the ball on her finger. (Photo submitted.)

This weekend the Lincolnview Elementary Gym is being transformed into New York City!  Prom will be held this Saturday Night.  The gym will be open for viewing on Saturday from 6-7 p.m., and then be sure to get your seat in the High School Gym for Promenade beginning at 7 p.m. as the Juniors and Seniors enter for Prom.  The students will then dance the night away in front of the New York skyline.

The freshmen class thanks the community for supporting their class fundraiser. We were able to sell 52 cards and have a very nice start to our class fund for prom! Also, Skyway All Gold All Year will be treated to ice cream on May 18. There are 40 students who have held Gold cards all year! And finally, Skyway exam exemption forms are due May 14 for seniors and May 22 for underclassmen. These can be picked up and returned to Miss Rohrs.

Congratulations to the junior high track teams.  Both the boys and girls were sixth place at the Spencerville Invitational on Friday. Hunter Blankemeyer continues to dominate the high jump and hurdle races. His time in the 110-meter hurdles was 16.84, a full two and a half seconds ahead of second place. His time in the 200-meter hurdles was 29.45.  He finished first in all three events and tied the meet record in high jump by jumping 5’8”.

Ashton Bowersock placed second in the 800 meter run (2:51.06) along with the mile relay teams.  She and the relays ran amazing races considering that many were competing through sicknesses and injuries.   Both teams placed second, setting personal records.  Members of the girls’ team are Bowersock, Rhoades, Wendel, and Gorman (4:55.63).  Members of the boys’ team are Schmersal, Farmer, Mason, and Whitaker (4:14.65).
