Sixth graders create “Peace Posters”

Sixth graders from Lincolnview Elementary recently created "Peace Posters" for the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. The Middle Point Lions Club chose a first and second place poster winner who received certificates and cash prizes. The first place poster will continue to the next level of the contest. A job well done and congratulations to (from left) Sage Whitaker - second place, and Courtney West - first place. (Photo submitted.)

“Shine your Smile Day,” the mobile dentists, is coming to Lincolnview on Friday, Dec. 7 in the Elementary Clinic. The Smile Programs have been invited to coordinate on-site dental care at the school for grades K-8 because dental care is an important part of overall health. The best part is that children can receive dental care at no cost to parents/guardians, as Medicaid, CHIP, and most other insurances cover 100 percent of prevention treatment. The dental team will set up a mini-dental office in our building and provide dental services for all children who return completed forms. Parents who want their child/children to see the dentist on “Shine Your Smile Day,” need only fill out the permission slip and return it to the school.

The Lincolnview Local Education Association is currently involved with the SCRIP Gift Card program to help support their scholarship fund. The SCRIP card program is for anyone spending money on themselves or others. Gift cards are available through the LLEA SCRIP Program and can be used to purchase various products including groceries, gas, books, clothes, online purchases, etc. The cards also make excellent gifts.

By purchasing SCRIP gift cards through the LLEA, you are supporting the LLEA Scholarship Fund. The LLEA currently provides three $1,000 scholarships that are renewable for a second year as long as the student has maintained his/her grades. The LLEA provides Lincolnview graduates a total of $6,000 a year to further their education. The LLEA will receive a percentage of the sales from the SCRIP gift cards. This percentage will vary from vendor to vendor.

It is easy – simply go online to www.shopwithscrip.com, and create an account. You pick your own username and password and complete the appropriate information, including email address. If you are a parent, please complete the information about your child’s teacher name and grade. Then, read the terms and click “I accept.” You will be prompted for the organization enrollment number, 78A81AL534389. After entering that, you are ready to shop!

Don’t have the internet? You can still order your SCRIP gift card the original way – on paper. Turn in the completed order form with your check to your child’s teacher. You can pay either by: Check made out to LLEA; Cash; or PrestoPay – an online payment by providing your check routing number. This will cost you $.15 per check and it is a secured site.

Your order will be processed and ordered. Our ordering date is Monday mornings. This will get your SCRIP gift cards by Friday and delivered to your child’s classroom unless instructed otherwise. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Susan Tenhundfeld, SCRIP coordinator at stenhunfeld@lincolnview.k12.oh.us or Mr. Tony Campbell, LLEA President at tcampbell@lincolnview.k12.oh.us or call the High School at 419.968.2214.

Some vendors include the following: Ace Hardware, Arby’s, Bob Evans, Buffalo Wild Wings, CVS/pharmacy, Elder-Beerman, Kohl’s, and Nike, to mention only a few.

We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone that donated clothing items for the Beta Club clothing give away. Once again, it was a huge success.

A reminder that anyone wanting to order Lincolnview Spirit Wear for Christmas needs to get the orders turned in by Dec. 1. You can see the items online at the school website. Just click on the Athletic Booster link to see the items available and obtain the order form.
