VW Manor gets deficiency-free rating
Van Wert Manor news
Van Wert Manor, located at 160 Fox Road in Van Wert, recently received a deficiency-free rating from the Ohio Department of Health.
What is a survey?
Nursing facilities are required to be in compliance with state and federal guidelines to participate and receive payment under the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Van Wert Manor participates in both of these programs.
A standard survey team is composed of 4 to 7 individuals, called surveyors, and they are hired by the Department of Health, and a survey takes approximately one week.
What do surveyors’ look at?
They look at the services furnished, as measured by indicators of medical, nursing, rehabilitative care and drug therapy, dietary and nutrition services, activities and social participations, sanitation and infection control.
There are approximately 500 tags that could be cited. If one tag is out of compliance, that can affect another tag, causing the facility to be out of compliance with the Medicare/Medicaid process, and causing many deficiencies for the facility.
So why is a state survey important to the residents, their families, the facility staff and the community? Because, as stated by Jacque Welch, administrator of Van Wert Manor: “the survey results reflect the high quality of care and dedicated, caring professional staff that’s why we are your first choice in health care.”
In addition, Welch stated, “it shows the community that Van Wert Manor truly is an employer of choice in the community, where employees love what they do, and it shows. As you can see, we are very proud of our entire staff for achieving this high standard. It is not a one time achievement, but a standard level they work towards every day.”
Van Wert Manor has been serving the community for over 40 years with excellent and innovative rehabilitative and skilled nursing services. For additional information, contact Welch at 419.238.6655
