5K run/walk date is approaching
The Lincolnview FFA will conclude its annual Fruit and Ham Sale this weekend. Please contact any FFA member or the Lincolnview High School at 419.968.2214. Adding to the list this year are Sweet Potatoes, Red Delicious, Yellow Delicious, Granny Smith, and Fuji apples in five-pound bags, half bushel, and full bushel. They are also offering 10-lb. boxes of navel oranges and red grapefruit in addition to the half and full boxes.
The Lancer 5K run/walk is quickly approaching. Help support Lincolnview’s Student Council by getting your NEON clothes out for an evening Glow Run. This will help raise money for this year’s homecoming ceremony and dance! The Lincolnview 5K will be held on Nov. 9. The race will begin and end on Lincolnview’s all-weather track. Registration will begin at 4 p.m. and the race will start at 5 p.m. There will be post-race refreshments and drawings. There will also be a Fun Run during the result tabulation. Kids can participate for free with a canned good for the local food pantry.
Glow necklaces will be provided for all pre-registrants, so register early. The pre-registration cost is $10 and race day cost will be $15. For more information and the registration form, see the Lincolnview website, located under Lancer 5K run/walk sponsored by Student Council.
On Tuesday, Oct. 29, the Lincolnview students participated in Mix It Up day. In previous years, the junior high was the only participant; this year, it was a grades 7-12 event. The Agents of Change group was in charge of the activity. During each lunch period, pieces of candy were handed to the students as they entered the cafeteria. The students then had to find the table representing their piece of candy. This simple gesture forced students to move out of their comfort zones and connect with someone new over lunch. The lesson learned is that when students interact with those who are different from them, biases and misperceptions can fall away.
