ODOT to sell 2 Lima area properties

LIMA — The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) will sell by public auction two properties near Lima with opportunity for commercial growth.
The properties will be offered at auction on Thursday, January 29, beginning promptly at 6 p.m., at the Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 headquarters, 1885 N. McCullough St. in Lima.
The auction will be held in the main conference room (Room 39). Registration will begin at 5 p.m. and auction participants may enter the District 1 office at the main entrance located on the northeast side of the building.
The first property is a 2.598-acre lot located at the intersection of Ohio 117/Bellefontaine Avenue and Greely Chapel Road. The property is in a prime location near multiple retail, restaurant and hospitality businesses. All utilities are available at the interstate commerce site.
The second property is a 0.398-acre lot located at the north side of the intersection of Ohio 309/Elida Road and Robb Avenue. The property is along a major traffic corridor leading to the Lima Mall and other retail, restaurant and hospitality businesses. All utilities are available at the location.
Both properties are excess parcels, meaning they are not needed by ODOT for highway right of way purposes. The properties are being offered at auction because of their prime location and because of the unique opportunity they provide for development.
“This is property we’d like to return back to the market so it can be developed into something beneficial for business and the community,” said Kirk Slusher, Ohio Department of Transportation District 1 deputy director.
An agent from Straley Realty of Van Wert, which is conducting the auction, will be on site at each property from 5-6 p.m. on January 8 and January 22.
