Friday August 26, 2022

9:28 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area in Washington Township to check a disabled vehicle in the road.

10:10 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area in the City of Van Wert to assist with traffic control at a motor vehicle crash.

11:03 a.m. – Deputies checked an area around the Van Wert County Courthouse for a subject who had been acting disorderly inside the Courthouse.

3:01 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Middle Point to investigate a report of a vacant residence being broken into and contractor tools stolen.

4:10 p.m. – Deputies made a citizen assist in the City of Van Wert, with a subject from Van Wert Health.

10:20 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence in the City of Van Wert to assist a subject locked out of their vehicle.

10:42 p.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Marsh Road in Pleasant Township to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area.

Saturday August 27, 2022

3:14 a.m. – Deputies along with Willshire Fire, Wren EMS, and Van Wert EMS responded to a scene in Willshire Township on private property, near State Route 49 and State Route 81 for a report of a 4-wheel ATV crash. Unit one was travelling in a trail near the intersection of State Route 49 and State Route 81. The driver drove up a hill at approximately 15 m.p.h. hitting a tree causing the 2015 Polaris Razor to hit its side. Both the driver and passenger were ejected. The driver, Lacy Brister of Willshire was transported to Parkview, and the passenger, Joseph Schmidt of Decatur, was transported to Van Wert Health. The crash remains under investigation and alcohol is suspected as being involved.

8:17 a.m. – Deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Middle Point to investigate the report of a loose dog attacking and injuring another animal.

9:30 a.m. – Deputies responded to a residence in the Village of Middle Point to investigate the report of harassment and a possible protection order violation. The incident remains under investigation.

12:45 p.m. – Dispatched Wren EMS to a residence in the Village of Willshire for a subject who fainted.

1:50 p.m. – Dispatched Van Wert EMS to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility for a subject with high blood pressure.

2:46 p.m. – Deputies responded with Middle Point EMS to a location in Washington Township on the report of a 4-wheel ATV being struck by a vehicle, with a juvenile being injured. The incident was investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

4:42 p.m. – Dispatched Scott Fire and Deputies to residence on Elm Sugar Road in Union Township on a report of a propane tank that had been tipped over and leaking.

9:20 p.m. – Deputies responded to the Village of Venedocia on a complaint of subjects being at the park after posted hours.

10:47 p.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Lincoln Highway in Union Township to investigate the report of a suspicious vehicle in the area.
