Joel Penton and Ryan Holliday will speak at L’view

The Van Wert Rotary Club presented Lincolnview third graders with new dictionaries for their classrooms. Lincolnview Elementary would like to thank the Rotary for putting new dictionaries in the hands of 74 third grade students through their Dictionary Project. Lincolnview is proud to welcome Joel Penton and Ryan Holliday to speak to our student body on February 7 at 10 a.m. From his platform as a champion, Joel brings a positive message that is both relevant and impactful. Combining humor and sincerity, Joel gives a real-life example of the rewards that result from making right choices. His stories of personal trials and subsequent triumphs are proof that ordinary people can accomplish great things by simply following through with their commitments. Joel is a graduate of Van Wert High School and The Ohio State University where he played five years of football for the Buckeyes. He was a member of three Big Ten championship teams, a member of the National Championship team, and a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection.
Ryan Holliday is an accomplished piano player, singer, and performer also from Van Wert.  He began playing piano at the age of four and quickly developed his gift of playing by ear.  He gained valuable experience playing and performing at churches, youth events, and concerts throughout his high school and college years.  Ryan has spent the last eight months traveling the state on the “Stand Your Ground” tour with speaker and former Ohio State football player, Joel Penton.  He has performed in front of thousands of middle school and high school students while on tour.  November 2007 saw Ryan celebrate the release of his 4-song EP entitled “The Music of Ryan Holliday.”  Ryan is a 2006 graduate of Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana.  He is also a 2002 graduate of Van Wert High School, where he was voted “Most Musically Inclined” in his class.
Joel and Ryan will also be in concert that same evening, February 7, at 7:30 p.m. in the high school gym. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
