Van Wert Police blotter 7/19-7/25/2026

Sunday, July 19 – a welfare check was conducted on a distraught male in the 600 block of Burt St.

Sunday, July 19 – officers were dispatched to the area of Lincoln Highway and Stripe Rd. after a single vehicle crash. While enroute, it was learned the driver might be unconscious. Upon arrival, it was discovered a white Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on Lincoln Highway and entered the city limits. The SUV was reported to have veered into the oncoming lane of travel and left the roadway, striking a tree. The driver, Doris Jones, 74, of Lima was later pronounced dead at OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital. A medical issue caused her death.

Sunday, July 19 – officers took a telephone harassment report.

Monday, July 20 – an assault was reported in the 600 block of Greenwald St.

Monday, July 20 – a probation violation was reported in the 500 block of E. Main St.

Monday, July 20 – a trespassing report was taken in the 1100 block of S. Shannon St.

Tuesday, July 21 – disorderly conduct was reported near the area of S. Chestnut St. and Greenwald St.

Thursday, July 23 – disorderly conduct was reported in the 700 block of Fox Rd.

Friday, July 24 – a report of found property was made in the 400 block of S. Franklin St.

Friday, July 24 – found property was turned into the police department.

Friday, July 24 – officers took a report of telephone harassment.

Friday, July 24 – arrested Sabastian Caudill on an outstanding warrant in the 800 block of E. Main St.

Friday, July 24 – arrested Landon J. Clifton on an outstanding warrant while in the 200 block of Gay St.

Saturday, July 25 – fraud was reported in the 600 block of W. Main St.

Saturday, July 25 – a report was made in reference to several assaults that occurred the day prior in the 1100 block of S. Shannon St.

Saturday, July 25 – a telephone harassment report was taken in the 1100 block of S. Shannon St.

Saturday, July 25 – arrested Tiffany Pate on an outstanding warrant in the 1100 block of S. Shannon St.
