Van Wert Police

April 21, 11:17 p.m. — Douglas R. Thatcher Jr., 33, of 405 S. Vine St., was cited for an open container violation as a result of a traffic stop on West Main Street. Thatcher was a passenger in the vehicle.

April 23, 10:41 a.m. — Concrete blocks were reportedly damaged at Jefferson Elementary School.

April 21, 10:33 p.m. — Aaron D. Bradford, 16, of 14082 Ohio 116 in Van Wert, was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia as a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Jefferson Street.

April 22, 2:29 a.m. — Jeremy I. Showalter, 28, of 322 N. Race St., was charged with operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI) and speeding as a result of a traffic stop in the 300 block of East Central Avenue.

April 21, 7:56 p.m. — Kody J. Johnson, 31, of 442 South Ave., was charged with OVI as a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Shannon Street.

Aaron D. Wortman, 39, of 13107 Richey Road, was charged with OVI as a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Walnut Street.

April 20, 3:58 p.m. — Dustin S. Combs, 34, of Celina, was charged with OVI, a lanes violation and possession of marijuana as a result of a traffic stop in the 100 block of North Washington Street.

April 20, 9:49 p.m. — James D. Genth, 53, of 222 W. Second St., was charged with OVI as a result of a traffic stop in the 600 block of Center Street.

April 21, 12:28 a.m. — Samuel D. Whisman, 20, of 908 E. Main St., was served with an outstanding warrant after he was seen walking in the 800 block of East Main Street. Another man, Cai D. Evans, 18, of 524 N. Market St., was charged with underage consumption.

April 21, 2:03 a.m. — Steven Darnell Jr., 24, of 714 W. Main St., was charged with OVI and driving while under a license suspension as a result of a traffic stop in the 900 block of East Ervin Road.

April 21, 7:19 p.m. — Joseph S. Smith, 18, of Paulding, was charged with theft as a result of an alleged shoplifting incident at the Walmart Super Center, 301 Towne Center Blvd.

April 21, 12:20 a.m. — A coin-operated vending machine at Uptown Laundry, 209 S. Washington St., was reportedly tampered with.

April 21, 4:38 p.m. — Larry F.Florry III, 27, of 309 N. Walnut St., was charged with OVI as a result of a traffic stop in the city.
