Student Council holds organizational meeting

Lincolnview Elementary students got to play dress up during the recent "No-Bully Zone" Assembly sponsored by the PTO. Students learned how to recognize types of behaviors that are considered bullying and how to respond. Pictured above, from l to r: Calvin Fackler, Cheyenne Linton, Gannon Boyd, and Madison Case. Student Council held an organizational meeting to elect officers for the 2012-2013 school year. The results were: President – Haley McAbee; Vice President – Courtney Gorman; Secretary – Brittany Cavinder; Treasurer – Lauren Calvert; and Reporter – Isaac Young. The group also decided to once again host the Lancer 5K run/walk on Oct. 6. The 5K will be held at the Van Wert Reservoir. This event will serve as their fundraiser. It was also voted on by the Student Council to seek contributions from local businesses for their 5K event.

The Student Council also discussed ways of pointing out the importance of the phrase “just say no” and the various situations where it can be and should be used.  Students are faced with so many temptations and the Student Council members want to help provide an easy way for them to face those temptations.

The Lincolnview guidance counselors received a $2,000 grant from Cooper Foods to be used towards the school’s anti-bullying efforts.  The grant was written and submitted by Brenda Leeth and Tonia Verville.  The funds will be used to purchase materials and implement additional programming with the goal of reducing bullying through strengthening our school climate and improving the resources available to students at every grade level. We endeavor to increase personal responsibility, provide responsive and empathic interventions, and create a safe and peaceful learning environment for every Lancer.

The High School Guidance office would also like to announce the upcoming College Night. It will be held on Monday, Oct. 15 from 6:30-8 at Vantage Career Center. Also, keep checking the Guidance webpage located on the Lincolnview Local School website, http://www.lincolnview.k12.oh.us/.
If you purchased a 2011-2012 yearbook, they may be picked up in the high school office. The yearbook company printed a few extra copies that will be sold for $50. They will be sold on a first come-first serve basis and may be purchased in the high school office.

As we conduct our 2012-2013 ad sales campaign we would like to thank all who have already purchased an ad for the 2012-2013 book, as well as thank all of those who have advertised with us in the past. Without your support, the Lancer Yearbook would not be possible. Please patronize your yearbook sponsors! If you were not contacted by the yearbook staff and would like to purchase an ad in the 2012-2013 yearbooks, please call the high school office or send an email to bschnipke@lincolnview.k12.oh.us. Thank you!
