The sophomore class is having their annual carnation sale for Valentine’s Day.  Orders for carnations will be taken through Feb. 8.  The carnations are available in many colors and will be delivered to the students on the afternoon of Feb. 14.  A special message may be written and delivered with the flower as well.  The carnations are $1.50 each.  Junior high and high school students can order at lunch time.  Family and friends of students in grades 7-12 who would like to order can do so at the homecoming game this Friday night or can stop by the high school office on Thursday and Friday.  Colors available this year include the traditional red, pink, white, and yellow as well as the new colors of blue and purple.

The gym clean-up has gone well for the sophomores and there are only two more home basketball games left.  The clean-up crew for this Friday night is: Scott Cowling, Joe Murphy, Wyatt Schmersal, Dalton Schmersal, Kaylin Taylor, Adam Stocksdale, Stephanie Longwell, Stephen McLaughlin, JP O’Daffer, and Kourtney Parsons.  The following students need to volunteer at one of the last two games or pay their $10 class dues:  Alexa Sikraji, Jordan Young, Arik Mitchener, Jared Doner, Devi May, Curtis Moore, Jacob Gibson, Chey Chrisman, Nathan Byrne, Ben Allen, and Brittany Pessefall.

The Student Council held a meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 29, to discuss the upcoming events related to Homecoming. The following themes were agreed upon for Homecoming Week: Monday – each grade level was to wear a different color to represent his or her grade level; Tuesday – twin day; Wednesday – fashion disaster; Thursday – pajama day; and Friday – dress to impress. Students are also competing for the best decorated hallway. The student council will be decorating the gym on Friday and the cafeteria on Saturday.

The Homecoming ceremony will be held between games on Friday, Feb. 8. Homecoming candidates are, from the left, front row: Mackenzie Strite, sophomore; Ashley McClure, junior; and Rhya (Fern) Vongvichien, freshman. Back Row, senior candidates: Courtney Gorman, Kaitlyn Brant, and Taylor Miller. The Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, Feb. 9 from 8-11 p.m. (Photo submitted.)
