VW independent staff A Thursday evening power outage in Van Wert was caused by an animal that made contact with AEP equipment. It happened at approximately 7:15 p.m. and affected the south side of Van Wert. Power was restored at 8:42 p.m and according to AEP Ohio, the outage affected 3,826 customers.
