2:09 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Lincoln Highway in Pleasant Township for a report of a vehicle stuck in an area where the road is closed.

2:19 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Middle Point Wetzel Road in Washington Township for a report of loose cattle in the road.

7:08 a.m. – Deputies responded to a location on U.S. 127 in Pleasant Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A 2024 GMC Sierra driven by Kurtis Halder of Michigan was southbound on U.S. 127 near Wren Landeck Rd. A 2006 GMC Envoy driven by Abigail Eutsler of Spencerville was northbound on U.S. 127 near Wren Landeck Rd. Halder was in the northbound lane of traffic attempting to overtake a semi-truck and was unable to make it back into their lane of travel and swerved off the road left to avoid a crash. The two vehciles struck each other on the front passenger side of the vehicles, causing minor damage to both vehicles. Halder was cited for left-of-center. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.

8:04 a.m. – Dispatched Van Wert EMS to a location on Lincoln Highway in Pleasant Township for a subject having difficulty breathing.

8:39 a.m. – Dispatched Van Wert Fire to a residence on Van Wert Decatur Road in Pleasant Township for a report of a pick-up truck fire.

1:55 p.m. – Deputies served a warrant issued by Van Wert Common Pleas Court for violating a protection order, a third degree felony; menacing by stalking, a fourth degree felony, and violating a protection order, a fifth degree felony. Corey T. Salisbury, 45, of Van Wert, is being held at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.

3:50 p.m. – Deputies spoke to a resident from John Yoh Road in Hoaglin Township for a complaint of criminal mischief.

3:58 p.m. – Deputies responded to a location on South Washington Street in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

5:04 p.m. – Deputies served two warrants issued by Van Wert Common Pleas Court. Anthony M. Oliver, 31, of Van Wert, is being held at the Van Wert County Correctional Facility of felonious assault, a second degree felony, and aggravated menacing, a first degree misdemeanor. Brandon V. Blackmore, 47, of Liberty Township, is charged with strangulation, a fourth degree felony,  and domestic violence.

6:58 p.m. – Deputies responded to a location on Towne Center Boulevard in the City of Van Wert to assist a motorist locked out of their vehicle.

On 7-27-2026 – officers spoke with an employee at a business in the 900 block of E. 5th St. who reported that a vehicle struck an awning on the building.

On 7-27-2026 –  officers responded to the 1100 block of N. Main St. for an unwanted guest complaint.

On 7-28-2026 – officers were dispatched to the 600 block of W. 1st St. for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with a male and female at the residence who were involved in an altercation.

On 7-28-2026 – officers spoke with a male at the police department who reported that his dog, which he previously reported stolen, was posted on a pet lost and found website. The male attempted to retrieve the dog, but it was already claimed. The male believed that the dog was picked up by his ex-girlfriend.

On 7-29-2026 – officers were sent to the 200 block of W. Clime St. for an unwanted guest complaint. A female at the residence told officers that a male, who has been living at the residence, was no longer welcome. Officers explained the process to legally evict the male.

On 7-29-2026 – officers spoke with a female who wished to file a report. The female told officers that she opened a cell phone account for a male, who lives out of state, and sent him a phone. The male did not pay the female back as he agreed to.

On 7-29-2026 – an officer on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after observing the vehicle being operated on fictitious license plates. During the traffic stop, officers found that the driver, Anthony Hutchison, 44, of Lima, had an active warrant out of Allen County. Hutchison was taken into custody and transported to the Allen County Jail.

On 7-30-2026 – officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Gressel Dr, to investigate a minor crash on private property involving a semi tractor-trailer and a small SUV.

On 7-30-2026 – officers were sent to the 400 block of Moxie Lane to investigate the discovery of a deceased male.

On 7-31-2026 – officers assisted the Allen County Sheriff’s Office in locating a male who sent messages stating that he had harmed himself. The male was found unharmed but was transported to the hospital for mental evaluation.

On 7-31-2026 – officers spoke with a female in the 600 block of S. Jefferson St. who reported that she was the victim of a scam. The female stated that she provided the caller with personal information, including her social security number.

On 7-31-2026 – officers responded to the 700 block of W. 3rd St. for a domestic disturbance. Officers arrived and spoke with a male and female at the residence who were in a verbal argument. The male agreed to leave the residence to de-escalate the situation.

On 8-1-2026 – officers were sent to the 900 block of E. 5th St. to investigate a minor private property crash. Officers found that a vehicle backed into a fence, causing minor damage.

On 8-1-2026 – officers spoke with a female and her elderly mother about an online scam. The female told officers that her mother had sent thousands of dollars to a male she had been communicating with. The male claimed to have numerous medical issues and requested money to help cover the expenses.

On 8-2-2026 – officers spoke with a male who was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male in front of an establishment in the 100 block of E. 2nd St.

On 8-2-2026 – officers spoke with a female who reported her wallet missing. The female told officers that she got into an altercation with another female and soon after discovered that her wallet was missing. Officers arrived and found that the female had received her wallet back.

3:35 p.m. – Deputies, along with Middle Point Fire and EMS and Van Wert EMS, responded to an area of U.S. 30 in Ridge Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A 2011 Yamaha motorcycle driven by Kellie R. Shipman of Washington Township, was eastbound on U.S. 30 east of Boroff Road. Shipman was negotiating a curve and for an unknown reason went off the left side of the roadway into the median. While doing so, the motorcycle went onto its side and threw Shipman from the unit. The bike came to rest at the bottom of the median. She was transported to OhioHealth Van Wert Hospital.

4:35 p.m. – Dispatched Middle Point EMS to a residence on Lincoln Highway in Ridge Township for a subject having an allergic reaction.

5:31 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on Sycamore Street in the Village of Convoy for a report of trespassing.

9:55 p.m. – Deputies, along with Wren EMS, responded to a residence on Rockford Road in the Village of Willshire for a motor vehicle crash involving a deer. The injured person drove home from the incident location in Mercer County.

The driver, Quintavion Jackson-Gregory, 21, of Kalamazoo, Michigan, was transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility on a charge of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, a first degree misdemeanor.

9:16 p.m. – Deputies responded to a residence on Greenville Road in Liberty Township for a report of domestic violence. Brandon V. Blackmore, 47, of Liberty Township, was arrested and transported to the Van Wert County Correctional Facility for domestic violence and strangulation.

10:21 p.m. – Deputies, along with Ohio City EMS, Van Wert EMS, and the Van Wert County Coroner, responded to a residence on Hoghe Road in Pleasant Township for a report of a deceased person. Van Wert City Police assisted on scene. No foul play is suspected.

12:20 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area of U.S. 30 in Tully Township for a report of a motor vehicle crash. A 2005 Ford Focus driven by Logan Bannister of Convoy was westbound on U.S. 30 near Feasby Wisener Road. Bannister failed to negotiate the distance approaching the intersection of Feasby Wisener Road and entered the intersection too fast, left the roadway and struck a road sign. His car sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. No injuries were reported at the time of the crash.

12:20 a.m. – Deputies responded to an area of Peter Collins Road in the City of Van Wert to assist the Van Wert Police Department.

7:17 a.m. – Deputies responded to a location in the Village of Convoy for a complaint of trespassing at a residence on Beamer Street.

11:33 a.m. – Deputies assisted with a funeral escort from the City of Van Wert to Willshire Cemetery in Willshire Township.
